    Avifauna en un area perturbada del bosque andino en el parque nacional natural Farallones de Cali, corregimiento de Pance, Valle del Cauca (Colombia)

    El presente conjunto de datos en el formato de archivo Darwin Core incluye información del monitoreo de la avifauna en un área perturbada del Parque Nacional Natural Farallones de Cali. Con el objetivo de caracterizar y determinar la composición y estructura de la avifauna, se llevaron a cabo censos visuales desde agosto 2008 hasta julio 2009 en las localidades de El Topacio y El Pato en recorridos de 2 km de longitud, a elevaciones entre 1550 y 1800 m s.n.m. En total se hicieron 2363 registros de 157 especies de aves, pertenecientes a 41 familias y 19 órdenes. Se observaron 12 especies nuevas para el área, 10 de las cuales son aves propias de áreas abiertas. Nueve especies que habían sido registradas en El Topacio en 1978, no lo fueron en el presente estudio y en consecuencia se consideran extintas y vulnerables localmente, lo cual ilustra y ratifica cómo el reemplazo de los hábitats naturales por potreros, la fragmentación y el efecto de borde afectan negativamente las comunidades de aves en áreas protegidas.This dataset in Darwin Core Archive format includes monitoring information about bird life in a disturbed area of the Farallones de Cali National Natural Park. Aiming to characterize and determine the composition and structure of bird life, visual censuses were carried out from August 2008 to July 2009 at both the El Pato and the El Topacio localities along line census of 2 km and from elevations between1550 to 1800 m a.s.l. A total of 2363 records were obtained of 157 species of 41 families and 19 orders. Twelve were new records for the area, 10 of which are common in open areas. Nine species previously recorded in 1978 at El Topacio were absent and considered locally extinct and vulnerable.     Effect of supplementation in diet with BIG EGG in productive parameters in laying hens of commercial eggs

    P?ginas 23-32El presente estudio fue dise?ado para evaluar el efecto de la inclusi?n del producto BIG EGG? sobre la respuesta productiva en ponedoras comerciales. En la granja El Portal ubicada en el municipio de Rivera departamento del Huila a una altura de 700 m.s.n.m. y una temperatura promedio de 28 ?C; un total de 21.517 aves Isa Brown de 43 semanas de vida ingresaron a la evaluaci?n. Las aves fueron distribuidas en dos tratamientos bajo un sistema de producci?n convencional en piso. En el tratamiento 1 (grupo control) las aves recibieron alimento tradicional; un total de 11.259 aves fueron destinadas para este tratamiento. Para el tratamiento 2 las aves recibieron el mismo tipo de alimento del tratamiento 1 m?s la suplementaci?n ?On Top? del Producto BIG EGG? a dosis de 2 Kg/Ton de alimento; para este tratamiento fueron destinadas un total de 10.258 aves. El periodo total de evaluaci?n fue de 10 semanas y las variables analizadas fueron consumo de alimento (g/ave/d?a), producci?n de huevo (%), peso corporal (g), peso promedio del huevo (g) y masa de huevo (g). La inclusi?n del producto BIG EGG? permiti? mejorar los par?metros productivos de ponedoras comerciales con un nivel de significancia estad?stica de (p<0.05) frente al alimento tradicional que no incluye este aditivo. Los costos de producci?n reflejaron la eficiencia productiva y el efecto positivo de BIG EGG? sobre el tama?o de huevo y porcentaje de producci?n, lo que significa una mayor rentabilidad en el proceso productivo.ABSTRACT. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of inclusion of the product BIG EGG ? on the performance of commercial layers. On the farm El Portal located in the municipality of Rivera in Huila at a height of 700 m above sea level and an average temperature of 28 ? C, a total of 21,517 Isa Brown hens of 43 weeks of age entered the evaluation. Hens were distributed in two treatments under a conventional production floor. In treatment 1 (control group) the birds received traditional food, a total of 11,259 hens were intended for this treatment. For treatment 2, birds received the same type of food as treatment 1 plus ?On Top? BIG EGG ? at a dose of 2 kg /Ton of food; for this treatment were assigned a total of 10,258 hens. The total testing period was 10 weeks and the variables studied were food intake (g / bird / day), egg production (%), body weight (g), average egg weight (g) and egg mass (gr). The Inclusion of the product BIG EGG ? led to improve productive performance of commercial layers with a level of statistical significance (p<0.05) compared with traditional food that does not include this additive. Production costs reflected efficiency and a positive effect of BIG EGG ? on egg size and production rate, which means greater profitability in the production process

    Como respuesta a la dura crítica del uso de Antibióticos Promotores de Crecimiento en las aves, en los últimos años se ha venido incursionando en el estudio y aplicación de nuevas estrategias que permitan un crecimiento y capacidad de engorde en un tiempo mucho más corto. En razón a ello se ha implementado el uso de aditivos o suplementos en la alimentación, dentro delos cuales se ha destacado el uso del Selenio Orgánico en la dieta de los pollos de engorde como agente promotor de crecimiento. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue realizar una revisión sistemática sobre la inclusión de selenio orgánico en la dieta de pollos de engorde sobre diferentes parámetros productivos como mortalidad (Mr), peso corporal (Pc), ganancia/Ave/Acumulada (G/A/Ac), conversión alimenticia (CA) e índice de productividad (IP). En el estudio se analizaron 30 artículos científicos bajo las actuales normas de Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions y siguiendo los criterios de calidad actualizados de la declaración PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) para los artículos de este tipo de diseño

    Phosphates with different fluorine: phosphorus relations in the diet for broiler chicken

    Um experimento foi conduzido com o objetivo de verificar os efeitos de diferentes relações flúor:fosforo na alimentação sobre o desempenho de frangos de corte. Foram utilizados 1.000 pintos de corte de 1 dia distribuídos em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro tratamentos e cinco repetições de 50 aves por boxe. Os tratamentos consistiram de quatro fontes de fósforo com relações flúor:fósforo de 1:40, 1:60, 1:80 e 1:100. O experimento foi dividido em três fases experimentais: 1 a 21, 22 a 42 e 43 a 49 dias de idade. Em cada fase, avaliou-se o consumo de ração, o ganho de peso e a conversão alimentar. Ao final do experimento, foram abatidas duas aves de cada repetição para coleta da tíbia e de músculos do peito para análise das concentrações de flúor, cálcio, fósforo e magnésio desses tecidos. As relações flúor:fósforo avaliadas não afetaram o desempenho dos frangos de corte. A deposição óssea de flúor é proporcional à sua concentração na dieta, no entanto, a elevação dos níveis de flúor da dieta não influencia sua deposição nos músculos.An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of different fluorine:phosphorus ratios in the diet on performance of broiler chickens. One thousand broiler chickens with one day old were allotted to a completely randomized experimental design with four treatments with five replications of fifty broilers per experimental unit. The treatments was composed by four phosphorus sources with fluorine: phosphorus ratios of 1:40, 1:60,1:80, 1:100 and fed during three experimental phases: 1-21, 22-42 and 43-49 days. In each phase, feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion were evaluated. At the end of experiment, two birds per replication were slaughtered and their tibias and samples of muscle tissue from breast were collected for determination of fluorine, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium contents. The fluorine to phosphorus ratios did not affect the performance of broiler chickens. Bone deposition of fluorine is proportional to their concentration in diet. However, the increase of fluorine levels in diet does not influence their deposition in the muscle tissue

    Early feeding to modify digestive enzyme activity in broiler chickens

    Objective. To evaluate the effect on digestive enzyme activity in broiler chickens by providing food in the first 48 hrs. after birth. Materials and methods. After incubating 300 fertile eggs from Hubbard breeding and immediately after hatching, the chicks were randomly assigned to treatments: fasting (from hatching to 48 hrs.); Hydrated Balanced Food (HBF) from birth to 48 hrs.; commercial hydrating supplement (CHS) from birth to 48 hrs. The diets were provided ad libitum. After 48 hrs. a commercial diet was fed. At birth and at 48 and 72 hrs. of age 30 chicks/treatment were sacrificed to determine the enzyme activity of maltase, sucrase, alkaline phosphatase, phytase, a-amylase, trypsin and lipase in samples of duodenal or pancreatic homogenate. Results. The supply of HBF or CHS during the first 48 hrs. of life increased the activity of maltase, sucrase and phytase in the first 3 days of life, with values between 1.2 and up to 4-fold compared to the control (p<0.05). Chickens that fasted for the first 48 hrs. had higher activity of the pancreatic enzymes a-amylase, trypsin, and lipase at 72 hrs. of life (p<0.05). Conclusions. The food supply in the first 48 hrs. after hatching increases the duodenal enzyme activity in the intestinal brush border during the first 3 days of age in broiler chickens
